Your 1st step to success

I can tell you one thing. Everybody can be successful, its the path you take, and how you get on that path that will make the difference. Mistakes will be made, egos will be bruised. Money will be made and lost, but in the end, we can all be successful.

How we define success in very personal. I am successful in my own right. I live in a beautiful home, drive a nice car, and my kids are getting private education. To me that is great success. To somebody else, it is not. I am very happy and grateful for all that I have, and I continue to grow on my success.

The biggest mistake I see most people make, and I too have made this mistake in the past was to spend time, money and effort on "the plan." You get an idea, register a name, tax ID, develop a logo, create spreadsheets etc...

We decide our destiny. We decide our level of success. We DO NOT decide the plan, or how we are going to get there. The road will be put ahead of us, we do not build the road. We say where the X goes on the map, and we decide the treasure that X represents.

This does not mean have no plan at all, it just means you have to change your method of thinking, and the plan will be revealed to you. I decided long ago that I wanted to create a company that sold "lifestyle" products. I started off with creating a name, developed a logo, registered the company, bought product, and ended up owing alot of people alot of money.

My company is now a great success. I sell indoor tanning lotions and skin care creams, as well as sports supplements to tanning salons, gyms, salons and stores. What changed? The way I thought about it.

I woke up one day and started writing what I desired in terms of business. Here is what I wrote that very first day. You will notice that I wrote it as if it already was reality;
I am so very grateful and happy now that my company is a huge success with cheques and orders coming in every day. I am thrilled and grateful to earn $70 000.00 per year.

Once I completed that I took another piece of paper and wrote what I was grateful for. It doesn't matter if it is big or small, and long as the gratitude is sincere. I also started to cut items out of magazines and I stuck them on a peg board, and I pretended as if those were my items. There was a car, a few watches, designer sunglasses and jeans. Nice jewellery for my wife, cool toys for the kids.

I couldn't just sit there and leave it at that, you still need to get things done for the results to appear. So I emailed people I knew in the industry saying I was looking for sales reps and I was offering to pay them commission. Within a week I had 4 sales reps on board. The rest rolled out from there.

I have not yet reached my goals, but I am well on my way, and sales and personal income are increasing week after week.

Your 1 step to success is easy. Think about what you truly want to do. Explain to yourself what YOUR success means. Visualize life as if you already achieved that goal. Do what is needed to get there. Worry about the vision more than the plan.

I would love to hear people share their success stories with me so please comment.
